Commerce is the conduction of trade of goods and services. This can occur on multiple scales. Nations can trade goods and services to one another, businesses can purchase goods to move them down the supply chain, and goods can be sold to customers on an individual level through retail.

Commerce is important because it helps satisfy the wants and needs of people. It does this by simply making more goods available to more people, or by creating jobs in order for those goods to be transported, advertised and sold. Through this, the nation that these people live in can enjoy a higher standard of living.

The Department of Commerce was established in the academic year 1975

The department has highly qualified and well experienced teachers since its inception. SriG.Narahari,SriP.Ramamohanrao,SriM.BabuRao, Smt B.Lakshmiswethakumari worked in this department. Kum I.Swathi Mutyam is the First member of this Department since 2016. Smt M.Durgamma is other member of this department.
